Sinopse: Itaú, one of the largest banks in Latin America, believes that education is a powerful development force in society. That’s why the bank has been investing in education for over 25 years and created “Read to a child”, a project that has already distributed 40 million books free. Despite all the bank’s support, Brazilian culture is facing a problem: time spent on reading books is decreasing while time spent on Facebook is higher than ever. So, we created interactive books for kids and displayed them on the perfect shelf: parents’ newsfeeds on Facebook. To make it possible we hacked Canvas, its new rich media format: instead of creating an ad, we created a new way to read to children. Using targeted ads, we delivered the books to the right audience – parents of young children – at the right time – around bedtime. This way, reading to a child became as easy as sharing a post on Facebook, which is quite appropriate, after all, the platform has “book” in its name.
